Aspen Ranch is a licensed adolescent residential treatment center for troubled teens located in rural Loa, Utah, about three hours south of Salt Lake City. Aspen Ranch is surrounded by towering green mountains and incredible red rock desert which offers a great alternative to school for your troubled teen. There are miles of BLM and Forest Service land in all directions, and Capitol Reef National Park is just twenty miles away. The Ranch’s co-educational residential treatment program is set in an ideal environment for troubled teens between the ages of 13 and 17.6 years, who need an opportunity to make positive life changes.

Low self esteem, academic underachievement, substance abuse, mood disorders, anger, and family conflict are some of the issues students at Aspen Ranch may be struggling with when they first arrive. Living in a therapeutic environment, attending an individually paced school designed for success, participating in individual and group therapy, and involvement in a life-changing Equine Program, allows Aspen Ranch students to experience success and rediscover a sense of mastery and self worth.

About Our Program

Aspen ranch is a co-educational private school that offers programs for troubled teens that are based in a therapeutic environment on teaching four core values: Respect, Responsibility, Relationships, and Integrity. The Ranch provides adolescents with a supportive structure and therapeutic activities, which are goal-oriented and address specific developmental skill and knowledge deficits as well as emotional and behavioral problems.

Aspen Ranch’s Mission: Aspen Ranch, an environment where adolescents can develop, practice and improve healthy interdependence, social accountability, responsibility and self mastery through principle based decision making, value congruent behavior, and honest achievement in a traditional ranch setting.

At Aspen Ranch, the family therapy component is one of the most critical for the child and family's long-term success. Because most of the ranch's students return home after attending the program, restoring function to the family unit is a top priority.

What makes Aspen Ranch unique and effective is the phenomenal Equine Program, which is founded on the principle that, through working with horses, students can learn life skills that initiate change. All aspects of horses and horsemanship are used in the program, from bareback riding, to jumping, to overnight off-site trail rides, to barrel racing, to team penning, to young horse training. Horsemanship skills are integrated with team building activities, experiential learning, and therapy groups to create a unique program with endless possibilities.
